Matthew 10:32: Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. Romans 10:8-9: But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Within minutes of when I got saved I had a coincidental? (There are no coincidences for a Christian.) discussion with my postal supervisor about how to process a magazine that was passing through our department. We briefly discussed and doubted the validity of the allegedly Christian organization that produced the magazine. I told him I know I am going to heaven. That simple confession somehow sealed the deal for me. It is a particular delight to me when I hear someone pray to receive Christ and within moments they say or do something that convinces me that God has been at work on them. Sometimes I don*t hear or see fruit in them until days, weeks, months or even years later. It thrills me even when their testimony is belated. It does trouble me when I hear someone pray to receive Christ and I don*t see any fruit. In those cases it does encourage me to remember that I haven*t told the radio preacher that shared the gospel with me that he led me to Christ. Testimony is important to the one who got saved but it is also important to help him be part of God*s blessing to others. Luke 12:8: Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God: We all ought to be able to tell others what the Lord has done for us and how He has changed us and our lives. It can be extremely helpful to us if we first write out or type out all we can about our salvation. Some proof-reading, meditation and revising can help us clearly define what the Lord has done for us. As we grow in the Lord we understand better what He has done. Once we have written it out it will be easier for us to verbalize it. I would love to read written testimonies any of you might write. Please send them to me through the website. Some of my most enjoyable memories are things that I have heard from and seen in people who have prayed to receive Christ in my presence. I usually give them a chance to tell me in their own words what has just happened. Often their comments are spontaneous. There is a wonderful variety in their responses. Occasionally I ask them to tell me in their own words what just happened. Following are a few of the comments people have made seconds after they have received Christ. Some are things they said or that happened a few days or weeks later. Some of you may recognize yourselves. I trust you will not mind my sharing these things you have said and done. If you do mind let me know and I will remove what you said or did from the website. C . . . Such peace.M . . . Freedom! J . . . I didn*t know it would be like that! M . . . You don*t know what you have done for me! (She quickly understood that it was God who had done something for her.) C . . . I feel better already. L . . . The Lord tied up some loose ends for me. D . . . I have been a stubborn fool. S . . . That was so-o-o neat. R . . . Inner Peace! C . . . Pray for my brother in Iraq. (To have this experience.) A . . . smiled and made a silent gesture with her hands that something had come into her from above. L . . . He is calling me. C . . . I just bask in His goodness in church. S whose husband had first received Christ . . . You led us to the light. A to N . . . What Ron said was impressive and you should hear it. N . . . I feel good on the inside. J . . . Thanks for helping me out. D had been very profane but stopped cursing. R to J . . . I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. T to N . . . You need to talk to Ron. N . . . received Christ shortly thereafter. W . . . gave me a very memorable Thank you. I don*t remember any who have not said Thanks or Thank you. They quickly understand that the most important thanks should go to God. Many times I see smiles, tears and a softer countenance. Often evidence of someone*s salvation comes from a third party. P. . . told his mother-in-law that I had led him to the Lord. She thanked me profusely.L . . . wanted to know how he could forgive others. N . . . shed tears when she received Christ. N prayed for R and hoped to be present when I shared the gospel with R. She was normally rather talkative and asked me: Do you want me to shut up while you share with R? I asked her to pray silently for R while I shared the gospel with her. N heard R pray to receive Christ a few days later. R also shed tears while doing that. N asked . . . Does everyone cry? I shared with her that not everyone cries. When people do shed tears there is usually a smile shining through. I often ask them if those are tears of joy. Their smiles get broader and they say yes. S . . . told her boyfriend in prison who had, unbeknownst to her, recently received Christ also.J . . . My friend told me she got saved and I needed to get saved. At first I was mad at her but I*m not mad at her anymore. When she told the friend about receiving Christ the friend said It*s about time! B . . . told me about a co-worker who had witnessed to her. After she received Christ they had a new kinship. G . . . introduced me to several people as his mentor. His wife had passed away and he also told others that by introducing him to Christ I had gotten him through that difficult loss. Actually it was the Lord that did that. D . . . who had received Christ a week earlier to her teenage daughter A: You listen! (to Ron) A . . . also received Christ. Q . . . I feel a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. F . . . I feel a hundred pounds lighter. E . . . had been a hard-nosed skeptic and became supportive of my ministry. When the activity director at the Nursing Home where she lived omitted our chapel service from the schedule she would chastise the activity director. M . . . became sad and apologetic when she was physically unable to attend the services. L . . . began attending church and fellowshipping with her Christian daughter. S . . . acquired a special new relationship with her Christian mother. D . . . began having special long-distance fellowship with her Christian brother in Pennsylvania. M . . . began returning love to her Christian Aunt. T . . . asked me to please continue sending the Bible studies. R . . . I have found my guy. (Jesus) E . . . I have this old car and I prayed it would not break down. It broke down (right in front of a gas station). T . . . gave me permission to share the gospel with his wife. (She received Christ.) D . . . who had received Christ heard me share the gospel with his wife. (She received Christ.) J . . . had been a racist. He no longer had that problem. Many ask me questions about the Bible that demonstrate a new discernment, a new understanding of the Bible, a new curiosity, a new hunger for answers and a new attitude toward the Bible. Their understanding of Biblical answers and the logic of the Bible come quickly. Many have a very warm attitude toward me. Every time they see me I get the most wonderful smiles. Many have a heightened attraction to other believers. John 13:35: By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another. |
